This project really opened my eyes to the endless possibilities in photoshop. In the project we focused on retouching images to make them look more presentable by removing things like scratches and blemish. Generally just marks that look out of place. We first started with placing the image onto our canvas. Luckily for us, the images were already smart objects, so it made sure we worked non-destructively. Once we placed the image however, we had to duplicate it to make sure that if we made any mistake, we still have the original image. Once we have the original, the duplicate, and created a new layer for retouching, we can get to work. Retouching was a simple process but timely as well. It involved the various retouch tools, such as the healing brush, the spot healing brush, and the patch tool. To retouch the image however, it wasn't simply just using one of the tools. We had to switch tools in certain moments to get the best retouch possible. To start with the healing brush tool, we had to option + click a certain part of the image to make sure we get a similar color so we can retouch. When retouching, it's important to work in small strokes, rather than dragging it out and getting a different color from the source point. For the spot healing tool, it was not necessary to select a source point, but it did the same as the normal healing brush tool, you just have less control. The patch tool however, I didn't find myself using it too often, although it was helpful in some cases. In the end, I moved the original to the left, and the retouch to the right. This project was a series of selecting different source points and making sure that you get the cleanest retouch possible. By the way, I do feel like this project taught us a valuable skill, as people in the real world, would most likely want us to retouch images so that they look more presentable. I feel like my retouch was a success, and this was one of my simple, yet, productive projects.
