This postcard redesign was a simple project. We already had the outline, now all we had to do was redesign to our liking. But it’s important to keep in mind the design principles. For my redesign, the two principles I often used were alignment and contrast. I used alignment because it’s essential to keep the viewers on the content, not whether things are aligned or if it seems ‘off’. It generally makes things seem more organized. Next, I used contrast. The original postcard had a lot of warm colors. I wanted to change that up a bit. It went from warm colors, to more cool, blue colors. For example the images themselves, and even the text boxes vary in more darker colors, to make it stand out more. I also made some shapes more bigger than others, to express the main idea, such as the four houses and the phone number. The design is mainly focused on placement and colors, making sure everything blends together.
